Hi

I posted this in the forum of my other phone, but it did not give me an answer, so i thought i'd try here... maybe the Curve owners are smarter than the Pearl owners.. haha.. i am just kidding...
Anyway... I'd like to send a SMS to an email address (the personne does not have a cell phone and is in front of the computer all day, so that's the easiest way)... but when i try to enter the email address, it just won't let me enter the @ sign... hmmm... with my first phone (some cheap Nokia very basic, i was able to, because she sent me a SMS to my phone number using her email address (myphonenumber@txt.att.com or something like that) and then i was able to save her email address in my address book... after that, when i wanted to send her a SMS, i'd just click NEW and then choose her email address in my phone book...
Now, with the blackberry i am unable to do that... very strange, but i just can't seem to find a way to do it... i've had a blackberry for only 3 days, so that's maybe why i can't find a way to do it... lol...i'm kind of unknowledgable when it comes to blackberries

P.S: I am not sending email to her email becaus i don't have data plan.... for now...

The other response doesn't really help. I have the same problem as you. I go to Compose SMS and I select [Use Once], it forces a number to go into the send box and i cannot type an @ symbol. After doing many Google searches I've given up. I used to be able to do it on my old Razr V3, I could type an email as an address to send my SMS.

If anyone knows here we'd love to know.

yep.. used to be able to do it with other phone too.... ahhhh... i wish there was an upgrade or something that would allow it... :(

I do have a data plan, I have the Blackberry Unlimited with T-Mobile.

You can't SMS to an email address and you can't email to an SMS address ... but SMS Gateways can translate for you and make this work.

We use email to SMS Gateways all the time.

To send an SMS to an email address with T-Mobile is easy. Send your message to the number 500. Then in the body of the SMS place the email address you want to send to followed by a space and then the text you want to send.

Like this:

soandso@emaildomain.com Hey how are you today?


Keep in mind that an SMS is 160 characters max and the email counts toward that total.

You can set up an alias on your T-Mobile.com website account to help save on characters, though. I used this all the time on an older phone I had.
