Default Apple Airport Xtreme problems (if you have one working, please help!)

So I went to the store to buy the Wi-Fi Curve because I love it and I have spotty service at home, and I figured the Wi-Fi would help. At the store, the worker actually asked me which router I had, then commented that an old customer had a problem with my router. Well I said that was a big deal and requested he call T-Mobile, I guess he searched the Apple forums and showed me a thread saying that the router did work.

I set up the router, it will connect and show UMA and the signal etc., however, I can use the internet/text all I want and it works flawlessly, when I make a phone call, it goes through (I called my roomate) yet it says "Call Failed" almost immediately, at the most I can get on the phone for about 5 minutes before it drops the call.

I was told to change some settings, it is just difficult because I pretty much need my roommate to do it (it's his router and he actually has a Mac), but I don't understand how it connects and uses the data but not the internet, I literally have to disable Wi-Fi to make or receive a call (friends called and it did not go through, nor notify me that they had called...)

If anyone has ANY input I would greatly appreciate it. I searched and saw that people DID have problems, yet some people always commented that theirs worked, I am just wondering how they got it to work since I don't believe ANY settings on the router were changed except for a security key (which was obviously entered when I first connected the BB).

Lastly, thanks so much for all your help, I have used this forum selfishly and never registered until now, but it really is a great source and I have learnt a lot, the FAQ is AMAZING (just about convinced me to buy the Curve, I just thought it would work at home ).

There have been many problems with the Airport Extreme Router. You'll likely need a different router. I recommend the Linksys WRT54GS. You'll want the extra range that the -S sports for good UMA coverage.
