Default OS 4.3 whats the whole deal

Please Login to Remove!

im sure this has been answered here before but can anyone tell me what exactly is going to be new with this OS. I know that it is supposed to turn the camera into a video camera but I have also heard that there will be a word editing program. So if someone would post a list of new features this OS is going to have that would be awesome.

HTML email, new views for messages and address book and lastly the ability to use the camera as a video camera.

Those are just a view of the additions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 4.3 will support up to 8gig MicroSD cards.

8gb memory cards for those devices that have a memory card... even the 87xx should be getting OS 4.3 eventually, but I doubt it will be sporting a 8gb memory card.

I have played with the 4.3.1 beta for the 8100. if your hoping for a slew of new features... you won't really get them.

it will be a nice upgrade with a few new things...

Actually, a document editing program, if it's included, is a pretty big deal. I think we've also heard that there's a voice recording feature that allows the audio to be sent as an email attachment. If true, that would be pretty cool beans.

The DataViz document editing might be subscription-based.

So, any ideal when this is supposed to be released? I heard before the end of last year but that didn't happen.

Ohh ok. I read it a few places online about before 2008 and it was mentioned in the end of this video which demos some of the features on the Curve.

But I figured it was going to be '08.

In all honesty it is taking forever... I am just concern about the memory consumption. New features need more resources.

No mentioned the voice recorder. I heard there was one and that one new feature would make it worth it to me. One of the posters above said only a few new features, I think more than a few!

As far as resources, RIM has had time to tweek it's software and if doen correctly can be as fast as what we have now or even faster. If they fix the "leak" and I hope that is a priority, we will see a better OS for sure!

Is it Spring yet?

It was 22F this AM in Birmingham, AL-- heck no it is not spring.

To quote Chance the Gardener: "Yes! There will be growth in the spring!"

And new OSs, too.

OTA updates for the OS is another feature that's supposed to be included in 4.3. Adding video recording is a biggie for me, but what I'm really looking forward to is Documents To Go. It might not be part of the 4.3 release, but it looks like DataViz is trying to time the release to coincide with it.
