I am looking to add some music to my curve. I plugged in the usb port to the BB and into the back of my pc. Says on the device-insufficeint power. I lost the cd for the Blackberry. Do I need to install that? How do i fix the power issue? Would love to add some songs and pics. Thanks so much

That just means that you can't charge the phone. Older USB ports can't do it. This doesn't change the functionality tho. You should still be able to add music.

Did the pc ever have the driver for the phone installed? If not, maybe it just doesn't know how much power to send to it, so it's defaulting to a very low power so that it does not fry an unrecognized device.

Yes, install BB Desktop Manager, that adds the needed USB drivers to power up the USB port.

If it's a newer computer it also could mean you have your USB ports set to conserve power. Go to My Computer - right click, go to properties, click the hardware tab, click device manager, click the + on Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on the individual USB root hub, click properties, click the Power Management tab, and uncheck the box that reads "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Do this for each of the USB root hubs. If you don't have this option or it doesn't work, then sorry - your USB is too old. Caution: if this is a laptop it could drain the battery faster.

OK i went o the area to downlaod blackberry manager and theyg ive you a lot of choices. What am i actually downloading which system?

You can download with or without media manager, your choice. Media manager makes it a big bloated download, especially if you're just looking for the drivers.

It's a driver issue. If you intend to use Desktop Manager, great. Install it and your problem will go away. If you do not need DM (I don't) run the CD but choose custom install and deselect DM. Only the drivers will install.

Yes, I prefer to use Mass Storage mode, drag and drop file like a USB drive.
