Default Speakerphone Convenience Key?

Please Login to Remove!

The left side convenience key on my Curve 8320 is assigned to voice dialing by default. I don't use voice dialing very much and would like to change this key's function to launching the speakerphone. Does anyone know if this is possible? It doesn't seem to appear as an option in the Options/Screen & Keyboard Menu. Or, is there any other way to launch the speakerphone with one key (rather than ALT-$)? Thanks!

There's no visible way to set those keys to Speakerphone as it's not an application, it's simply a device function. I have mine set to my address book for quick access for text, email, phones, etc.

I use the speakerphone key.

But then I have the 8310 not the 8320, maybe you don't have it.

The only major difference between the 8310 and the 8320, tbh, is the Wifi connectivity the device has available to it. Other than that, most application settings are the same. The Speakerphone, as it stands from what I see, can't be mapped to either key; unless there's some 3rd Party app in existence to do it.

Why are you pressing the ALT key? Just hit the $ key after dialing and it turns on the speakerphone.

Yeah... just now dawned on me with your post. When you're in Phone status, all strokes are set to Alt so that you can dial numbers... the Spearkphone key is defaulted to only needing one stroke at that point, holding Alt does nothing for you when you're on a call.

Is there a key that will toggle a bluetooth headset? On the 7100 there was, but not on any recent handsets I've seen...

What was the key on the 7100?

I don't of a Bluetooth shortcut on the 8300, other than O, B, enter. Or the Icon.

On the 7100 the period key '.' would toggle between speakerphone, bluetooth, and handset if I remember correctly. On the Pearl and newer, however it goes from speakerphone to whatever you were using before.

This is a problem if you answer the phone with a bluetooth headset connected, but you've accidentally left the headset on the other side of the room. You have to roll the trackball and highlight the 'transfer to handset' option, and it's kind of slow to do it. Someone might even get tired of the dead air and hang up. So it'd be nice to quick toggle it, or having an option to pick up using the handset even if a BT headset is connected.
