So my fiance got himself a Curve tonight. We have one computer in the house, but we each have our own account (screen names) on it. On my account, I have my iTunes. In his account, he has his iTunes. We figured we would do that with the Curve Download Manager. That didn't work. Instead of installing the software that came with his phone, it recognized my phone's software and wanted to over ride it.

We tried to see if my Download manager would recognize his Curve buy plugging it in, no luck. We had no luck with SWITCHING DEVICES either.

Help! How can we get the DM on our computer twice, or get my DM to recognize his Curve?

the desktop manager will store sync configuration by PIN number. you can link unlimited number of blackberries to one DM. i currently have 40 blackberries that link to my one computer.

Ok so how do we do that?

just connect the first device. configure the sync, then backup the device. disconnect the first device and connect the second, rinse and repeat. you dont need to install anything other than the DM that you already installed on the PC. you dont even need to close it between devices.

I'm so sorry but how do I configure the sync? I've had this for only a month and my fiance just got his tonight. I converted him from the iPhone LOL

well glad to hear the conversion! to configure sync, click on synchronize, then configuration and configure sync. follow the prompts and you will be good to go.

Ok, I plugged in the new Curve, and synchronize is shaded out. It wont connect the new device.

that is strange. does the device show that it is charging?

Yes it is charging. It hasn't had its first full charge yet. He brought it home after 8 and it was sold to him with a third of the charge left.

On the 2nd Curve, reboot (pull the battery while powered on) replace and try again.


Was he sprinkled or immersed?

thats odd that it is charging and not being recognized by DM

Should I do a power cycle and then try it?

I would suggest a complete reboot, pulling the battery while powered on and replacing to reboot the BB.

Then connect via USB again and try it.

Well guys, I did the power cycle and still had no luck. Any other suggestions? Should I call AT&T or Blackberry Support?

Oh and JSanders: he was sprinkled. I'm marrying this man so I want to be gentle ;)

if you have a media card, enable mass storage mode in the options > media card section and see if the device is recognized by windows at all

He doesn't have a media card. Does that make the difference?

I was surprised he didn't come home with one. I had my media card put into my phone, in the store.

Steph, does the BB have a PIN number? Where did he purchase the BB?

It does have a PIN number. In fact we tested his BB Messenger last night and it works. He got the phone from the same AT&T store where he bought my Curve for me (he gave it to me for Christmas).

What's odd is I have afeeling it is arefurbished phone, because his fonts look different than mie too. They are named the same, but don't look as nice.

Can I/you do the opposite? I want have the DM on my home computer do the same as the DM on my work computer.

Right now I only have the DM on my work computer and sync there. I want to set up my home computer for syncing purposes for just syncing to Google Calendar...not the address book(I know how to not allow sync to the address book) I make changes to my calendar over the weekend and want to know if this is possible. Right now changes I make over the weekend don't get sync'd till I get to work on Mondays.
