I'm trying to get a ringtone off my 8800 onto my new 8310.

I've tried hunting for the posts here but cant seem to find the answer. I've tried bluetoothing the file across, the file gets received but you cant play it on the 8310.

I've tried backing up the content store on the 8800 and restoring to the 8310. It says it does it but it it clearly hasnt because on the number of entries in the content store didnt match.

Thoughts? Help.... or you could me PIN me on 252D0FBE

After receiving the ringtone file in question, why won't it play... Have you tried a power on battery pull reboot of the device, then play?

There are no messages. If you go into media->Ringtones->All ringtones

You see the ringtone in question listed but the duration is 0:00 and when you select play it just goes into the play screen but nothing happens. Yup, just tried the ower on battery pull reboot of the device.

Can you email the ringtone to your PC?

Yup. But, real player nor windows media player nor vlc media player can play the file.

Originally I copied the file from the media card onto my pc and the same thing happens. No application seems to be able to play the file.

is it a mp3 or what?

try uploading it to Free online ringtone maker :: cellsea.com and see if it recognizes it.

What is the ringtone, anyway?

Its a .mid file so i guess its a midi file. The ringtone is called blaydon races ( you probably wont know it, its a UK thing). I've attached the file in this post.

oh well, won't play for me either. When I google it, I see literally more than a hundred sites with that ringtone.

did you buy the ringtone off of a website? if so they get locked to your phone and can not be moved to a different phone websites do that so you dont buy one and send it to a million friends for free.
