hey all-

i'm new to the world of BB, coming over from using a palm the last four years so i apologize in advance for my n00bish questions. i've done the searching, found the JC thread which is fantastic and i'm planning on stripping out the fat shortly. to that end:

1. do i have to uninstall the BB software on my computer and then reinstall it to update and implement some of the JC thread changes?
2. my phone icon is gone. no idea what happened to it. thoughts?
3. i created a 'crap' folder to put all the icons in that i'd never use. when i click on it (as i've been searching for my missing phone icon) there is nothing there. all it says is 'options' at the bottom of the screen.
4. i've got two "envelope" icons for messages that seem to do the exact same thing. one i set up with my coporate email, the other i didn't yet it's still there does the exact same thing but gets txt messages as well.. do i need them both or did i not have to create a new corp email folder when i set everything up (on a non-BB server). i think the answer to this one is i didn't and i set it up automatically.

i think that's it. tricky getting used to the new device and i'd appreciate any help/guidance you all could give. thanks in advance.

jake

1. Mostly likely not, you should be able to edit the ALX and deal with the cod files as JC advises. If you already have your handheld OS installed to your PC, no.
2. hidden? Press menu and SHOW ALL to see.
3. Is your "options" icon in the "crap" folder?
4. Your main "Messages" folder will get all email and messages, unless you separate out your SMS/MMS to another folder.

thanks J.

1.the handheld OS is already installed, so i just edit away in the folders indicated in the JC thread? sorry, i know i'm being lead dense on this one.
2. i tried SHOW ALL prior to posting the question, actually a few times, but the phone still doesn't show anywhere.
3. it's not an icon per se, but just the word "options", bottom, dead center above the track ball
4. ok, so i created an unnecessary folder. thought so. that can go. safe to say i can do search and figure out how to seperate the SMS/MMS to another folder?

thanks for the input. i'm sure these are easy questions but i've got precious little time in the home office until i'm out on the road again.
