AT&T Curve Overseas

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Bahamas on vacation. I need to make sure that I don't incur any overseas data/phone charges.

The phone will be on, but if I turn off my mobile network and keep it turned off until we are back in the states, will that do the trick?

Sorry--I've never had my curve when I was out of the country. BTW--LOVE the curve!!!
