| It always says I have one missed call! Please Login to Remove! I can't seem to get rid of the icon at the top that indicates I have a missed call (the phone with the X next to it). I have confirmed that I have no "Missed Calls" logged at ALL (read and unread). I have no missed voice mails either. Where else can this come from? Blackberry suggested a master reset, but I think that's a bit extreme... there's gotta be a way to clear it out!
TIA

| Try pulling the battery first. This is ok. First thing to try when having problems. If that doesn't work, see How do I reset my message counter to clear, or zero? - BlackBerryFAQ.com

| The battery pulling did not work and although this is a "missed call" indicator, I even tried the suggestion of leaving a message on my BB from another phone, then deleting that - but no good. I checked the "Missed Calls" folder and deleted all of the entries so I have no idea why my phone would be indicating that I missed one call with the icon on the top.
Help!
Thanks.

How about trying this. Even though you've deleted the missed calls in the folder, if haven't done this already (or just do it again and see), open the missed calls folder, highlight todays date, bring up the menu, and select delete prior. See if that fixes it.

| Did you change themes and come back?
Did you call your BB and miss another call and clear it?
Try all those suggestions in the link the at AI gave you. | | Offline

I always forget the theme trick. Need to write it on the back of my hand or something.

| yes I changed the theme to something else, then back and yes I called my BB and left a message, then deleted. Neither worked. I didn't expect the second one to work since it's not a message icon that's on, it's a missed call icon.
I also tried just checked the missed calls folder and I can't do the other suggestion you gave since when I open the missed calls folder (that is now empty) no dates come up on which to click "delete prior" because it's empty...
what else ya got?

Maybe call from another line to create a missed call, then do the delete prior. Otherwise, perhaps you've done everything. Unless anyone else has a better idea, if it bugs the heck out of you and you can't tolerate it, think about an OS reinstall or upgrade. But before that, let's see what others say.

| oh one more thing... the phone icon on the "desktop" has an asterick on it, the other way it indicates that a new call has come in - even more annoying!!!
Thanks again. | | Offline

| Jay this has been documented several times. Please use the search button. It is a relatively common problem. If it won't go away after changing themes, pulling the battery, etc., the only solution is to reinstall the OS. | | Offline

| I had the same problem. Even spent a lot of time with ATTs tech support. All to no avail. The only thing that fixed it was reinstalling the OS as has already been pointed out earlier in this thread. I should add that I believe it happened when I received a call which came in the middle of a prior OS upgrade.

| if I reinstall the OS, I'm assuming this means I have to reinstall all of my applications? Does anyone know where a document is that I can follow? I don't want to break it anymore. If I could keep my apps, that would be nice.
thanks all.

| First, it is not broken.
Yes there are documents, I found this using this.
And found this: at the top of this 8300 section. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...4-chinese.html
Just follow the instructions exactly as written and you will be fine.
Use this (again, searching will find it) to back up your third party apps: http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...arty-apps.html
So, you really don't have to install them again. Any purchased with a registration or license key, you might want to write that number down first.

| The link you gave for the reinstall didn't work, even once I found the english version! (your link was chinese).
I did this for the OS reload: BlackBerry 101: How to Reload the Operating System on a Nuked BlackBerry | CrackBerry.com
looks like my GPS works, but I still have ONE MISSED CALL even if I have more than one or none! If I've got some and I delete them, the one remains.. and if I have none, then it still says ONE.
ARGH!!!!

| missed call icon i m here as i have a similar problem. stucked icon of missed call. infact when my IT fellow updated OS the phone was slow & was showing any carrier (no signal) so he tried giving a missed call to my no. & gradually it worked. however the missed call was always there in log though not on screen. later he restored all data & what i got was a stuck miss call icon.
If anyone has a solution to this apart from reinstalling the software kindly advise. | | Offline

| As a first step have you tried opening the call log (via icon or the green button)? Just asking as I didn't see it mentioned. The references to the call log seemed to refer to the log in Messages. | | Offline

| I have this problem currently. I have tried everything listed in this thread and then some. I am currently going through the process of restoring my 8830 to factory defaults. Will let you know if this worked. | | Offline
