I've been a heavy Pearl user for the last year. The device is rock solid, 100% reliable and totally brilliant!

I need a larger screen though, so I've just ordered a Curve 8310.

Question is, with the differences in desktop software etc, I want to be sure of a reliable changeover.
If I do a backup with pearl, then plug the Curve in, will it restore onto that?

What's the best way of getting PIM (Contacts and appointments) over to the Curve?

use the change device manager, works for upgrading BBs as well!

Use the Switch Device Wizard. That's specifically what it does.

I just did a switchover from my old Pearl to my new Curve (8310), last night. I used the device manager blackberry device switch app. It worked surprisingly well. I had a number of 3rd party apps that all came over. I have had no issues so far. The only thing you may check is that there aren't any apps that were specifically designed for an 8100 screen/configuration. Other than that, it's very easy!

Over here in the UK, we're encouraged to have a number in our mobiles saved as ICE (stands for: In Case of Emergency). It's for if you're in a car crash or whatever, the paras can call your NOK etc.

I'm just gonna put this forum down as ICE as you get answers way quicker than anyone I know!!!!!
