Question 8320 on T-Mobile in US - should T-Mobile hotspot enable UMA/VoIP?

Please Login to Remove!

Tried my 8320 (US T-Mobile) at a local Starbucks (T-Mobile hotspot site) in WiFi mode (Cellular mode disabled.) I was able to authenticate and access the web using their hotspot facility, but the phone would not go into UMA mode that is needed to make/receive voice calls. I have been able to use UMA and voice calling at two other 802.11 sites (home and work), so the basics are OK. I also tried gizmoproject (gizmo5), which failed to connect to it's service at all from the hotspot, but was able to function normally (via 802.11) at home and work. Should this combination work, and if so, are there any restrictions? Thanks.

It should just automatically connect to the hotspot and get UMA. It has for me in the past. Perhaps the UMA service was down at the time. In future you can look at the Wi-fi diagonstics to see if there were any failed UMA attempts.
