Question So confused-BBSmart/Empower!!

Please Login to Remove!

I need help...lol. I was wondering which is better, BB smart email viewer or Empower?

I have BB smart email as of right now, but I noticed that the images don't come up in the actual email field. The only show up as attachments.
Does Empower suffer from this same drawback as well?

Also, My fiance has the trial version of BB smart email viewer on her phone and I was wondering if I put my activation PIN(for BB smart email) into her phone if I decide to switch to Empower will it allow her to take over having my BB smart email viewer and function correctly?

Nyce, read more here:
BB Smart E-Mail Viewer

Secondly, I believe the BBSmart license code is tied to the PIN of your BB. But if you email the developer, he is a cool guy that would likely transfer your BBSmart license to another device.

They both have free trials. Give them a try and see which works best for you. Keep in mind that the RIM servers strip much of the html coding from the emails so these viewer's aren't left with a lot to work with. I've found that many of the images don't display, too. They will not give you full html email but they are the best thing out there right now for having any pictures/images in emails at all. (I've noticed smileys work!)

Hey DacyJ, can you tell me why you like BB Smart over Empower? What is the difference in features and how they work? I only have a trial of BBSMart right now. I've never tried Empower.

I have had both and prefer empower. It pre fetches images and will cache them so when you open (first time or subsequent times) a email it pops right up with the images no waiting for it to fetch the images. It also seems quicker to me.

Does it show all the images or just some? I heard it is a RIM thing where even in HTML email viewers we may not see all the images. Also, do you have the trial or full version?

I prefer empower because it is faster. With BB Smart I was always waiting every time I opened a email for it to fetch images. With empower it pre-fetches the images, so when you open the email, there is no waiting. Also with empower you have the option to store images on your SD card which is great as I am always running low on memory.

I did have an issue with empower when I first installed it that it would never fetch images, but I under Options-> Image Display Options. I check follow redirects and now it load all the images everytime.
