Default Just got my BB 8310- now what?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my 8310. It was locked into Vodaphone (Australia) but the guy at the shop is a friend of a friend and he unlocked the phone so that I could use it with my Optus pre-paid.

I noticed it has a GPS receiver- cool! When I go into Maps, all I get are grey diagonal lines. Do I have to purchase maps on top of the phone cost now??

Also, how do I turn down the colume on the keypad? Oh, how do I check the OS version?

In the About menu, my phone says:

Blackberry 8310
smartphone (EDGE)
V4.2.2.146 (Platform 2.5.0.16)

Is my OS V4.2.2.146? What's the "EDGE" part mean?

Thanks.

Do yourself and your phone a favor and do not load it up with software that you will not use. It will only slow it down and make it less dependable.
