I have not had this problem recently but have a friend who complained about the same thing. How much free memory do you have on your device and how many text messages are there in your SMS/MMS folder?

If your available memory is below ~15MB then that could be the issue. Also, if there are thousands of text messages in your inbox, this could cause the delay also. My friend had tons of messages in the inbox and as soon as he cleaned them up, the 'delay' problem went away.

Yup that did the trick, deleting all the old messages...... That has to be a bug in the software, it never did it on my Pearl

That's odd. The friend I had was having that problem on a Pearl, not a Curve.

You should try going into your phone and deleting everything that you don't use. I am running about 27MB free on my device with third party themes and applications. Delete stuff you don't use, particularly the sample video and the default AT&T theme if you have it (takes a lot of memory for a theme).

Also, if you have media files on there like MP3's or custom ringtones, having those stored on a microSD card makes a big difference conserving space as well.

When ever your Blackberry does anything out of the ordinary, a battery pull will help 99% of the time. Sounds like you need to do a good cleaning of what you do not need. A lean Blackberry works best!
