Default Messenger Charges... HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a Curve today and have been using BB Messenger with someone in Canada. My carrier is AT&T and I have unlimited texting... will there be extra charges for this? International? (I just purchased the standard package to get the rebate so I have NO idea what kind of Data Plan I have)

I have looked at several other forums and can't find an answer... THANKS!!!

The BlackBerry Messenger uses the BlackBerry data plan, so if you have one there should be no extra charges. In fact, I don't believe BlackBerry Messenger works without the BlackBerry data plan.

First thing is that BB messenger won't even work without a data plan. I'm not sure what kind of data plans AT&T has but you won't get charged any extra unless you go over the specified amount of data that you are allowed by your plan. I would definitely check what data package you have.

You are correct sir.... BBMessenger will NOT work without a data plan and BBMessenger IS included in the data package....

There should be NO additional charges if the OP is on a UNLIMITED data plan...

To clarify, it has to be a Blackberry Data Plan. Do you know how much your plan is a month? if its $30 you are probably safe, as that is the cost of unlimited plan on ATT. i would check online or call ATT and see what plan you have.

I'll check. I'm pretty sure it's $30. So it doesn't matter that it's international? I thought I read somewhere that the international texting charges would apply... is that correct?

BB messenger or PIN messages are not text messages. They are instantaneous blackberry to blackberry communications. anywhere, any time, to any BB, within the limits of the data plan

my blackberry dataplan is only 6mb per month
this is the 'blackberry data' part for emails normally' ie BIS transport

GPRS data is charged separatley

so does BB messenger take data out of my allowance of 6mb? or is it free?
