Default Switching from Pearl to Curve

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I"m really new here and these may be some dumb questions but I have a Pearl and just bought a Curve, so I'm going to be switching. I really don't know where to start, I guess I'm just basically wondering how to switch all my ringtones and pictures and things like that from the Pearl to the Curve. I did a search but it all seems kind of confusing...lol....I just need the basics on how to switch my current things from the Pearl to the Curve. I apologize in advance if this has been asked a lot and the answer is right in front of my face...lol.. Thanks so much!!!

Just use the Switch Device Wizard in Desktop Manager.

Or you can backup the old phone and then restore that file to the new one.

Doesnt that bring over the servicebooks and some of the settings when you switch device wizard with the pearl? I remember it screwing up something on my curve when I did it?

I used the Switch Device Wizard in Desktop Manager a few weeks ago to move all of my info from an old Palm Treo 90 PDA. It worked like a charm. I can't recall the details, but it added to my existing Address book, memos, tasks without any problems. Of course it's not a Pearl, but I think that it only looked for database type files, not system files.

I just switched from a Pearl to a Curve tonight using the Switch Device Wizard like John said. Everything worked perfectly.

I am now transferring music to the new 4GB Micro SD card...

John is right - like always... switch device wizard is the fastest and easiest way to transfer everything. I did so when upgrading my phone and had no problems.

If you're switching to an 8320 and want the wifi capabilities, use this faq:

Device switch without losing H@H capability - BlackBerryFAQ.com

I used it this week and it worked perfectly.

Sounds like you don't have all the service books back. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table >Menu key >Register Now.

Okay.....Now I'm really intimidated about doing this switch. I could lose wifi capabilities? Oh brother!
