Voice Recorder Question
 

Anyone know of free voice recorder program? VR+ is trial only. The one on our phone is limited to a minute or so and doesn't allow use of storage card.

Great idea, I would love something like this also. I would like to keep my thoughts until I can write them down. Not sure why I think best while driving.

The new 4.5 OS will have a built in OEM voice recorder.

Depending on if we live long enough to wait for it to be introduced.

Seems like the app called multiPlay from Dollars5 had this capability.

I use the service, jott.com to do this exact thing, and some... check it out. It's a free service.

Thanks. I kinda missed having recording capability. The free version seems to do what I'd want it to. Can't wait until the OS does it natively.

Dollars5 has something called Vnotes that allows the recording to be emailed. If I email from the program itself, I get error messages and they either don't send or take forever. But if I just save them and then attach them to regular BB emails, they seem to work fine. There's a one-week free trial, which is what I'm using at the moment.

Is the quality of the recorded audio better than phone call quality? I find recorded audio on a cell phone to be pretty bad.

It's not too bad. I mean, it isn't exactly studio quality. Here's a quick sample:

anyone still have the installation files for VR+ 1.2.2 ? that (i believe) was free to record (but you had to pay to upload) .. i checked their website and they don't provide the older version anymore :(

I wouldn't even bother. BigHand Digital Dictation works better and is still free. Just get rid of VR+

This is true, we do not provide this version anymore. We also do not support it on forums and through email.

A new VR+ v.2.3.0 is available now with the new features as any length voice recording, emailing recordings in MP3 or as an URL and voice to text transcription.

I won't downplay this app anymore. The latest OS (4.5) has a built-in VR feature that works for the most part just fine. But VR+ does to much more than just record your voice. The built-in app has a file size limitation, won't record in a standard MP3 format, etc. If you want more features, I'd go with a 3rd party app...

On this recommendation, I downloaded the BigHand Dictation thing. Can't seem to figure out how to save a recording. The only option I'm given is to upload, and for that one needs a login, and for that one needs (as far as I can tell) to provide all sorts of information about how large a company one will be using this for. Which I'm not. I'm just a humble Blackberry user who would like the ability to record and save a minute or two of audio without paying $30 for VR+. (Which, after a day of searching, seems to be the only voice recorder software that works on a Blackberry.)
