i think it's kind of amusing how you can take off the battery cover and expose the speaker to get the full clarity while listening to mp3s and such.
just a random thought...

maybe something i should test with my 8300, because i think the quality when on speakerphone is a awfull compared to the 8800. i really have problems in understanding people calling me when listening to speakerphone...

Yeah - he did a very nice job on it - I have thought about doing it too however I'm not sure I'm brave enough to actually follow through with it.

i may break out the demel tool and cut a precise hole to match the shape of the speaker and glue a piece of thin cloth on the underside of the cover.... maybe not. lol

Why would you have to be brave to do it? Locate the speaker, which it looks like it is in the top left just left to the camera. With the cover off, take a sharpie and marke the holes how you want them. I was thinking about marking it the same way as the BB dot symbol like it is on the menu or on the back cover where the holes would go. After you do that, with the cover off, put the holes in it. It won't damage the BB at all.

cover on or off on the 8130 makes no difference.

Seidio makes a battery cover with a speaker grill. Thought I wouldn't need it since the sounds are really loud but it would make sense for MP3 sound quality.

Thank you, I'm aware of how to do this. I would need to be brave because if something happens, unless I buy a new battery door, I wouldn't be able to have my device replace.
