Default Document Viewer and IM Client? - 02-18-2008, 02:42 PM

hello all, I'm looking for a free document viewer for my 9310. I've done some searching here and have come across a couple apps that seem to have a yearly charge.

I'd prefer free, but don't mind paying for a piece of softare as long as its a one time deal, don't want to pay $50 a year for Repligo.

Anyone got any options? I looked at MasterDoc, and it appears to be a one time charge, can anyone confirm this?

I downloaded JiveTalk IM client earlier today, seem to like it - are there better options out there I should be looking at?

Thanks

Welcome to the BBF. I am betting you mean 8310 model.

There is not a free document viewer, other than your attachment service built-in to the BB OS you already have. Other than the two you mention, BeamBerry is another choice. Not free.

There is not a better IM client than JiveTalk.

Well hell, I didn't know it had a Word document viewer built right in, even opens PDF files. I just assumed I had to download something like everything else...

It's a little slow with the PDF files, but not too bad.

Thanks

hehe, the built inn is kinda slow, and limited to only attachments you recieve, else from that it works fine.

I would have love to see that the built inn viewer can view docs on memory card and phone internal memory aswell. But hopefully documents to go will have that function.

Did you decide on which IM client to use?

docs to go will have that feature, thats why it is being introduced in the first place. the RIM announcements have said that. Create/Edit/Save/Email to mediacard/internal memory and from media card/internal memory

Great to see you like it, 30$ is the best, I bought the 20$ lisences, and kinda regret it.. if my phone ever gets replaced I have to buy another lisence..

One of the very few things I miss about my Treo's is Documents to Go ............ I can't wait for them to finally release the BB version. As long as it is NOT subscription based, I will buy it in a heartbeat. Pricing is usually pretty decent, but I find professional software for the BB platform seems a bit higher for some reason.
