Hello everybody,

I currently have the T-Mobile unlimited data plan AND the 400 text message plan. What I want to do is get rid of my text message plan and use solely my data plan for all my messages.

I know I can send an email to a phone number with teleflip or by knowing their phone email address.

So, my question is this: is there a way I can some how receive all incoming SMS through an email so I am entirely free of SMS charges (or very little)?

What about using an IM program for these purposes? Or am I enslaved to a text message fee?

Also, if someone sends me an SMS am I charged for receiving it or only if I open it?

Any thoughts? I searched but couldn't find any results.

Thanks

I have not heard of a way around that. If someone sends you an SMS, it will come to the phone number. I don't know of a way for your carrier to capture that SMS and divert it to an email address.

You will be charged for the SMS, whether you open it or not.

TMobile's website says that even voicemails are charged to you as an sms according to your plan.

Ok well thanks. I figured there was no way to redirect the incoming sms.

Well then, is there a way to refuse all sms with an auto reply saying resend it to xxx?

It won't refuse it. And you will be charged for the reply.

Others--will Tmo and ATT, other carriers completely cut off your SMS, completely?

Ok so, if you block SMS on the phone in the security options (i noticed this today as well) does it still charge you for the text message? But you don't see it because it was only the phone that blocked it?

Correct, on the using the firewall settings, but your account will still get charged. Heck, test it and see if you are charged--that is one sure fire way to know.
