Welcome to the forums! Define long text messages ... I've not had any problems at all.

Odd; unfortunately I don't know much about problems with receiving large sms messages, but I know I've had no problems with TMO & Verizon in the US on an 8100, 8320, and 8703e.

I would try calling the carrier; sorry for not being much help here.

As far as I know, SMS has a cap of 160 characters. Any message over that limit will automatically be cut into 2 or more pieces.

Have you checked your SMS setting in option? Make sure you have the right service center #: 12063130004 and select GPRS (Preferred).

the length of text messages will vary by carrier, most are at 160 characters, and anything longer gets split into additional messages.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

That sounds odd. I don't have this problem. It would seem this is a carrier issue than the phone.

The SMS Specification calls for a maximum length of 160 characters. Some carriers have chosen to ignore this. Others have not.

I thought it would split long messages but it won't even deliver them and I get no error message , but it only happens on SMS being received

Some carriers don't split them. Yours does not.

SMS by standards are 160 characters or shorter...if your friends provider allows for longer lines I would send your message via e-mail you can send it by typing your friends phone number and then the carriers domain i.e. [email address] and that should work
