Talking OS: 8300 4.2.2.351 / 4.2.2.194 Tim Italy - 03-21-2008, 12:17 PM

Software For BlackBerry 8300 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.351 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.2.351
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.2.2.194
Software Platform: 2.5.0.44
File name: 8300M_PBr4.2.2_rel351_PL2.5.0.44_A4.2.2.194_TIM_It aly.exe
File size: 96.79MB

Click->>>https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...190CAAD5802983 and select "BlackBerry 8300 (TM)" from the list NOT the "BlackBerry Curve 8300 (TM)"

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8300:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

sorry, there is no change log AFAIK right now. And I am just the messenger here

From past experiences with updated OS, there might be some stability and bug fixes. if your current one is working fine for you, i don't suggest you to do the update. but some of us out there wanted the latest, give it a try and report back.

This might be specific to me but my update has frozen while Retrieving module "gm_42_L1.cod". The status bar hasn't moved in about 15 minutes - is there anything I can do to nudge it along?
TIA

I haven't tested this but this is annoying that they took off the feature. I came from the pearl and that had it but not the curve.

I've installed it and everything seems to be the same. However my VM is no longer on my speed dial list. I've tried everything and can't seem to get my VM # on speed dial. How do I do it???

Delete whatever is in the VM speed dial field(even if it's blank.) Then pull the battery.

Hey,

I am new to the curve family. I have the 8320. Running 4.2.2.161.

Is there any improvement upgrading? or not? And, will this upgrade even work? I noticed someone said it wont.

Thanks,

John

As the subject states, this upgrade is for the 8300. There's a different thread for your 3820.

As for the effectiveness of this upgrade on the 8300, I finally got around to installing it and after all is said and done, I went from 15-16MB free memory to 24MB. However, my calendar entries aren't showing up in the summary on Today themes. I'm trying a battery pull to rectify

Known Issue (at least with me, I have reported the same issue with the last few upgrades). I have noticed however, if you remove and re-add the calendar entries they appear.

I am getting ready to do this for my 8310.
My question is do I have to remove the one in my device first or is it over written?
Do I have to delete my original system on the DM or will there be 2 systems in the DM?
Last I guess I have to optimize this one like I did to my original system to gain space?

The calendar entry issue was indeed resolved after (twice) removing the calendar entries through backup/restore, then resyncing with Google. Google Sync needs some work.. took about 5 tries to actually connect, all the while going through the very annoying Key Store process.

raven71 you don't want this, you want the OS for 8310. instructions are included in that thread.

Thanks I thought this was for all Curve systems. I went to the link and pulled the 8310(TM) from the pull down menu.
I didn't Download yet. I was not sure if TM stood for T-Mobile or Trade Mark
I will look at the 8310 forum THANKS

You are in the correct forum however you are looking at the 8300 Curve (not the 8310). In the top of the 8300 - Curve forum, you will see a post for all versions of the 8300 (8300, 8310-GPS, 8320-WiFi). Click on the model that represents yours.

My PC does not see my BB when I plug it in via the USB cable as the instructions say you should do.

What can I do now?!
