Default Weird Error Message when I turn on the BB - 04-12-2008, 12:09 AM

I just bought a BB off eBay and everything seems to be working fine. I even got the phone unlocked by getting the code from AT&T. However, every time I turn on the BB, I get a weird message. I can't read the message
since it looks like this.

Network Notification
(bunch of numbers here)

ΠOì
fnüß'ì".Å&v$rö&ì2/ΠOìΦΠO>F&ìrü>wrààààààààààààààààààààààààààààààààààà àààààààààààààààààààààà

I've use the FAQ's instructions to make sure the phone doesn't have any IT Policy on it. I couldn't use the Jl Cmder since all the links are dead. I thought the language might be Asian so I downloaded the latest OS from AT&T which supports the Asian characters, but still can't read the message. Has someone seen anything like this?

The prior owners says she used it only on AT&T network with original OS and Desktop software.

The JL_Cmder in my sig should work.

That sounds like maybe a voicemail but not sure why all the strange text.

That looks like some of the spam I get on my PC.

Does the OS support Cyrillic? It looks somewhat like it.

Why would spam come up only when turning on the phone? Doesn't normally come via test messsge?

I don't think she was serious. It's not spam.

No, I didn't mean jhlee_99's message was spam, but I do get spam that looks like that. Not on my BB though -- the spam gets diverted on the server to the spam catchall on my domain email accounts. It could be Japanese or Korean characters perhaps.

Thx daphne.
I'm able view Korean, Chinese, and Japanese characters now, but the message still shows as I have posted. No clue. I,ve logged on to my voicemail to check if the error was coming from it, but, again, nothing out of the ordinary. I'll give at&t tech support a call tomorrow just make sure.

jhlee, if you have not, pull the battery on the BB while powered on, hold 30 seconds and replace.

Still get the error?
