Default Blackberry Curve OS 4.5 - 04-14-2008, 12:22 AM

I am having problems with my blackberry curve OS 4.5. I have the ulimited data plan. I can text find but not send MMS files fine. Im thinking it is the 4.5 os because before when i had 4.2 i could still MMS text the same pictures fine. But with 4.5 it does not seem to want to send? Any help?

After reading this thread I did some digging on the net and was able to find the new 4.5 OS. I have not installed it on my device but from what I have read from others who have, it does seem to have some issues.

There is a bug that makes sending MMS messages impossible. Also, others have complained about trouble with their email services as well.

When I have a chance to play around with it some more I'll make sure to post back here. If you want the OS, do some searching on some Torrent sites and I'm sure you'll be able to find it.

The bug does not prevent sending MMS messages, it simply prevents sending MMS messages with large attachments. You can still send the sample MMS animations and small pictures (none that can be taken with the camera).

Yes, its the beta version.
Yes, its available on the net.
Yes, if you are geek enough to be on this site, you should be able to find the file without any issue

NOW, for me... here goes.
I LOVE RECORDING VIDEO. I can finally start using that 4gb MicroSD Card a bit more.... Its easy, it has two settings, and its pretty cool.

*** FIXED***NEGATIVE - I cant get my Facebook app to run on this OS. BOO! Ive tried reloading, I've tried a bit.****** Thank you pheng617, I uploaded it through the webloader, the application loader BUT didnt go off a link. AND IT WORKED. Thank you for your advice.

Positive - I got the at&t / yahoo service books to carry over to this OS and can still connect after using the fix to connect to yahoo messenger

mixed reports of people not getting GPS to work. I got google maps to work, and its down to 3 meters.... so no triangulation here.

thats it for now. if this helps great, if not, im sorry to waste your time.

I only have one issue with 4.5.0.10 on my 8320 Curve. I can not send MMS while using UMA, using EDGE works fine. I have been running it for one week with no other issues.

This is not a big issue for me becuase my preference is email.

The memory loss and dropped signal on occasion is killing me! But, I LOVE the fonts and Dimension L theme to much to go back....lol

Oh, and brickbreaker seems to freeze up with the signal thing I think. Hey, it's a legitimate complaint! Ha Ha I'm trying to get to a high level here!

Thank you for keepin an eye on here. Yall ROCK!

If that's the deciding factor on your decision to try and find it and upgrade, then don't... I'm not saying that because it's a bad decision maker, but more to the point of the actual release date not being expected anytime in the next 1-2 months.

I tried it for like two days, didn't like it. I use the zen theme and the font seems much bigger, wallpaper kept changing on its own for some reason, phone crashed twice.. Video is ok but it could be better, love the voice recorder though. If you have it, load it and see for yourself!

thanks for the feedback - i installed it to my pc and after some research on this forum and others - i unistalled it. I read somewhere that the beta puts your mass storage device at risk as it can completely brick the feature.... now thats just too scary for me.... i guess i'll sit back and wait... for like.... 2-3 months.. (sigh)

I'm extremely tempted myself to find it and load it, but I agree that there are still too many bugs that aren't address yet for me to switch now. The wait does suck though.

I'm sure there will still be bugs when it comes out, but I would hope the major ones are addressed

I'm running 4.5.0.10 and like most of you I hate the signal drop. I love the new fonts, and all that other stuff. I also keep getting an error on blackberry messenger.

I'm thinking of just downgrading and stop putting up with this crap.

When you load and reload, does it reset everything and you have to spend a few hours regrouping and resetting your settings?

I recently downloaded the OS 4.5.0.10 beta for my 8300. And at first all i did was read the post. On about the bugs that it has. N i wasnt to sure bout it, bt i went ahead n upgraded it my phone late last night anyways. It does has some nice features, like the new L theme, record voice, record video, the media player gt upgraded which is my favorite. Like the idea of Documents to Go. There are many other features im not gt into. But the only problem I have is dt it slows down alot. It takes longer turn on, i cant receive any email's at all. <Just now i received an email that i had sent myself bout 1 hour ago>. The New OS is good, but all i can say is that i rather wait for the public release, imma downgrade back to 4.2.
other than that it was good just to experience its features, but i rather not deal wt all the bugs that this beta has. N trust it not dt hard to gt da beta OS. {N I wont share the link either} SORRY.

I'm sure glad everyone is posting their negative experiences and airing their dissatisfaction with an as yet UNRELEASED version of the OS. It is what it is. "Does this happen to you too??" "OMG yes!"

Whatever people.... it's in Beta. Why are there so many freakin threads on this?

hahah I really dont think its beta status and its being unreleased is a big issue. When the 8700c 4.2 OS first came out (not beta and yes published) it had very many of the same errors I am experiencing with the 8310 4.5. In fact I had way more errors in the 8700C's 4.2 at first then I am having with my 8310. I agree with most of the positive readers about the great new features already mentioned. In my opinion the benefits outweighs the challenges.

but of course be your own judge, this is just my two cents...

I noticed using .10 is it has bluetooth problems. I couldn't connect to a device or that device couldn't find my phone. I set there phone to bluetooth enabled and mine was searching and no luck and did that vise versa and it didn't work.
