Do you have a Service Book for you Hotmail account?

Options > Advanced > Service Books. Look for the email address, listed twice as a [CICAL] and [CIMIME]. You want the CIMIME. See it?

From what I have read you need a hotmail premium account in order to have Hotmail emails fwd to your blackberry account. I myself in curious on getting this set up as I have had my hotmail account for nearly 10 years.

It's a Regular Free account... But that shouldn't matter if I can set up Free hotmail from a New Samsung phone T439 that I got for my Wife that has free Service Why would it be any Different with a Blackberry i'm paying for the Unlimited Data Service Whats so Hard about having Email that would require Premium Service... Tha would be a Bunch of BS..... Either Hotmail or BB need to fix this Problem..... Becasue this has become very Ridiculous that a Regualr Samsung phone can Authurize Free Hotmail Service and We Need Premium Service to Authorize on a Blackberry thats Just Plan DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it matters.

Microsoft cripples Hotmail on the BB to force you to the Plus account.

It is not a BB thing, but a MS thing. Its been discussed here daily.

This really bothers me. There is a Hotmail account I really want to sync to my device, but I do not want to pay for the plus service.

If your thumbs don't hurt, you're not doing it right.

Try a Search or see the BB FAQ

This is not true. I have had hotmail for a long time, and my mail arrives just fine and sends just fine. Its not pushed like yahoo/gmail, but its definitely usable.

**edit**

I dont mean to say this definitely...i know it works on my bberry. I have had the hotmail account for as long as i can remember....it may be possibly i have been grandfathered in?

Also, there are programs out there that will allow you to forward your hotmail email, try creating a blackberry email account and using this mail forwarding program to forward the mail to your blackberry address.

It is my understanding that those that have had their Hotmail account for as long as you have are essentially Grandfathered into Premium account functionality. I have no quotable source for this however, I'm told it works without a Premium account for Hotmail long-timers.

Just because it works for you, you should be careful about such definitive statements. It is true. Many people who have had Hotmail for a "long time" are OK because they're allowing it simply because of your tenure on Hotmail.

All mail via the BIS is pushed.

I understood that Hotmail would not allow even forwarding?

I rarely use my Hotmail anymore since I made the switch to Gmail but....here is the forward panel on my Hotmail account;

Forwarding
You can forward your mail to one other e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com, or custom domains.

Important note: Please sign in at least once every 120 days so that your account doesn't get deleted. (In order to help fight junk, we delete inactive accounts.)
Don't forward
Forward your mail to another e-mail address
Type the e-mail address you want to forward the mail to:

Example: [email address]

Note: Forwarded messages are deleted from Windows Live Hotmail.

Post that do not constructively address the OP's issue is still thread crapping... no matter the intent.

Well I put my email to forward to my tmo.blackberry.net account and it works great through Hotmail but still i would rather not have it go straight to my tmo email you try to keep emails organized and separate from each other and not get confused.

So if your Hotmail account will allow forwarding, it should allow to be set on the BIS, that has been my experience in the past.

Normally, those grandfathered in, are grandfathered in on both counts.

Well I called TMO and they inform me that it should work fine on Blackberry without a Plus account. That the plus account should only be if you need extra storage for email I inform the TMO tech that. Thats not the case that i receive no emails unless i set it up as it being forwarding to my TMO email account he argued with me that you don't need to do that.... I also got so upset at this tech person because they've given me the run around a few time now about the hotmail email. Thats I told him that well if thats the case they need to recall all your Blackberry devices back because theres a lot of Blackberry devices that are not working on Blackberry he claim that i was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about...ETC.. So i told him do you read forums and he was like yes... I was like do you read blackberry forums he was like no... I told him well theres your answer obviously you have no idea whats going on in that blackberry world and your suppose to be a tech.... Are you freakin kidding me. Well after all that he put me on hold and then i was disconnected....lol... Sorry just needed to vent this is getting very crazy...

This might shed some light on things... excerpt from the BB tech support pages on blackberry.com;

Details

If you are a Microsoft Hotmail account holder, you must have a paid Microsoft MSN subscription in order to integrate your Microsoft Hotmail account with the BlackBerry Internet Service.

Hotmail uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to connect to Hotmail mailboxes. A paid subscription to Microsoft MSN allows external HTTP access to your Microsoft Hotmail account. The BlackBerry Internet Service uses this external HTTP access to retrieve email messages from your Microsoft Hotmail account.

Additional Information

If you are a MSN Hotmail Plus or Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscriber, see KB02189.
Note: By design you cannot auto-forward email messages from a free Microsoft Hotmail email account to any email address that does not end in @hotmail.com, @msn.com or @live.com. It is therefore not possible to configure an auto-forwarding rule to a BlackBerry email address, as Microsoft Hotmail does not allow forwarding outside its own domains.
For more information about the BlackBerry Internet Service, go to BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM).
