Question cant view pics in emails? help please - 04-23-2008, 10:08 AM

hey guys,

lately when i get emails with pic attachments, they come as applications and I cant view the pic. anyone ever heard of this? anyway to fix it?

little more information is necessary. is this BIS/BES/Redirector? also what is the extension of the picture file?

oh sorry, the pics come in a jpg format, and im on BIS, also its a 8310

does it give an error when you go to menu > open attachment?

the emails say one attachment, its in a jpg format, but when i click menu theres no view attachement

try resending your service books from either the handheld (mail setup wizard) or from BlackBerry Internet Service and see if that helps. also try a battery pull.

resent service books, still nothing, also did a batt pull. when i try to open the attachment it says application: frozen lock.jpg (the picture im tryna open)

and then it wont let me open it

it takes a bit. do you get a checkmark to the right of the name? or is it the hourglass/timer icon

Have you tried different pics / formats? I.e., maybe the particular jpg's you're looking at just have a weird encoding that's throwing it off.

yeah i had different people send pics, and they all come in jpg format but they now say application and wont give me the option to view

Just as a heads up to those following this thread. I suggested that the OP check to make sure the blackberry attachment service is installed on the device. At some point it may have become uninstalled during the upgrade/downgrade process
