Please Login to Remove!
I will be upgrading from a Pearl to a Curve this week, but I want to be sure I switch all of my contacts over easily. I created a backup file on my Desktop, can I just load that ".ipd" file into my new Curve?

easiest way is use the Switch Device Wizard

it will move everything over for you

no its just apps/settings/PIM data

it will work, but the switch device wizard is more efficiently.

The switch device wizard moves over customer data AND OTA loaded applications. It does use an IPD. As Sith said, it is much more efficient.

So when I get the new phone, do I hook my current one up, then select "Switch Device?"

Yes. Start the Switch Device Wizard and follow the instructions carefully.

click Switch Device, it will prompt for the old device, connect it, click next, it will prompt for the new device connect and hit next. all done.
