Default BB Messenger - 04-27-2008, 11:18 PM

I have used BB messneger. One person I talk to in Toronto and it works great.

My Dad is in Kenya and bought a blackberry. His contact is still Pending. I can send him messages as E-mails and they go to his blackberry. He's set it up properly and so have I.

Just wondering is it because I am with Rogers so it is locked for locacl networks? Is anyone experiencing a similar problem or has a solution for me?

Thanks in advance.

If he is on a BlackBerry Data Plan, he should be able to send/receive a BBMessenger message.

Can you PIN message him? (Message folder > Compose PIN)? If PIN messages work, BBM should work.

No, it will work as long as the other person has a BlackBerry and a BlackBerry Data Plan to go with it. With BBM, you can BB-IM anyone in the world as long as they meet the requirements.

It could be pending for a few reasons.

1. He hasn't accepted your BBM add/invitation yet.

2. He doesn't have the BBM application yet and needs to install it. get it here: mobile.blackberry.com

3. The signal for reception either on your side or his side might have been weak at the time of your request and got "timed out" or stuck.

***this is all assuming that both parties have BlackBerry Data***

When you turn on your phone, does it return the favor? Welcome to BlackBerry!

Thanks guys will retry again

He Accepted my invitation. I'll find out from him if he has the application.

I can PIN him for sure but no messenger. Perhaps he does not have it so let's try that.

Much appreciate it. Will try again today....look forward to talking to him via messenger.

IF he accepted your invitation, he has the BBM application. Can't do so otherwise.
