Default Messages disappearing

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I'm having a strange problem with my 8300. For some reason my phone has started to spontaneously delete all messages in my sms and email inboxes. The only ones that seem to survive are those which I have specifically saved.

I've heard of another friend who had this problem with an 8800 and had to swap it out.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Derek

I have 12 megs free.

If i ran out of memory would that actually delete all my messages thoug?

I also noticed that my recently dialed numbers list was wiped. I made a few calls, they appeared and then they disappeared again.

12 is more than me but were you running a lot of apps in background at the time?
I don't remember if this will make a difference but you may also try to resend the service books. Resending the books may reset certain items and is not a laborious task on your part.

tried resending the service books.

Did a hard reset so any apps running in background should be closed now.

Still no luck I'm afraid.

dereklande, yes, running out of memory will cause the device to delete your Inbox, from oldest to newest in order to make memory space.

I find if I leave my device running for too long without a reset, it eventually runs out of memory and deletes my Inbox. Since the device is so unresponsive when out of memory, I usually do a reset before starting diagnostics, which is counter-productive because after the reboot, the device has plenty of memory.

I think that there's a memory leak in one of the apps I run (or the OS), and resetting the device solves the problem. If you have the same condition, that would explain why you see 12MB free after the reset.

My point is that it deleted every single message in every mailbox, along with my call log all of a sudden. Then when i made some calls, it proceeded to purge those from the record too after a few minutes.

Still doing the same thing since a hard reset.

I had the same EXACT problem, what I did was backup all info on pc, did a hard reset and so far so good.
I'm guessing if problem persists you might have to swap it out - good luck and godspeed!

Yes, backup frequently and delete uneccesary messages because you will NOT get them back once they are gone unless you've backed them up.
