Not sure how best to search for this one, so here's my problem: My 8800 died (or went into a terminal condition) a few days ago due to a loose USB port that would not let it charge. I took all my backed-up data and my SIM and migrated to my wife's old 8300 until I could get in touch with AT&T for a warranty replacement. I had always liked the 8300 form factor anyway, so it wasn't a painful move. ;) In the process I also upgraded it to 220.127.116.11. I've been using it for a few days now, and so far, so good...
...until this afternoon. Suddenly I can't make or receive calls, though I can get data just fine. I make the call, it appears I'm connected, but I can't hear anything, and then after a few seconds, the call fails (with the "Call Failed" message). Did some troubleshooting, including swapping my wife's SIM to my handset and mine to hers. My SIM works fine in her RAZR, her SIM doesn't fix the problem with the BB. Called AT&T; after some phone time with them, they advise wiping the BB. This appears to work; I can make a call with the newly-wiped 8300, but of course I now have no data on it. I run a restore and I'm back to the same problem. So there's something in what I'm restoring that apparently is causing the problem. Do I need to downgrade back from 18.104.22.168 to something else? I tried re-wiping and restoring selectively; didn't see anything that to me should cause the problem, but I am back to the same situation.
This did motivate me to get a warranty replacement for the 8800, and it should be here tomorrow, so I won't be out forever...unfortunately, option C, my old unlocked 8700g, appears to be in CA and I am in TN, so it's out of the picture until Saturday.
