Default Latest OS: BB 8330 4.3.0.127(Multilanguage, Sprint) - 05-02-2008, 12:15 AM

Software For BlackBerry 8330(TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.3.0.203 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.3.0.203
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.3.0.127
* Software Platform: 3.1.0.73
* File name: 8330uEFS_PBr4.3.0_rel203_PL3.1.0.73_A4.3.0.127_Spr int.exe
* File size: 97.46MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Enjoy, friends! Hopefully someone will sticky this.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. Get it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Nope, this is only for the 8330 which is carried by Alltel, Bell, Sprint, Telus, and Verizon.

I haven't installed it yet, but I am hoping that it fixes the GPS bug in which locking onto satellites takes a long time.

Other than that, I cannot find anything else wrong with the Curve.

The GPS seems to be working better with this update. No longer am I waiting around for over a minute to find out where I am. I will test this out by going for a drive in the morning or a bit later on if I cannot sleep.

Update went fine for me on a Bell 8330. No issues to report. Supposedly fixes some issues with GPS but I haven't tried it out yet. Haven't noticed any other changes.

So, no changes really. GPS is working the same as before (BBMaps works fine, Google Maps does not).

New version of GMaps released (2.1.0) but the problem has not been resolved. Will not pick-up GPS on the 8330. However, the client does not suffer the lag that it did with the 2.0.3 release and My Location enabled.

Regarding the GPS issue, I can not say for with certainty if this updated OS has a fix for it in its coding. What I can say is that as soon as I upgraded I was able to use my GPS with less problems. Granted it's not like it was on my 8130 which was nearly immediate, but it will do until my carrier comes out with its update which I understand will be out with a few weeks.

After installing the device software, the Desktop Manager no longer sees my device. It wont connect with the device software installed.
It does without it. Is anyone else having this problem??

Unplug the BB from the USB. Reboot both the PC and the BB.

Try again.

GMaps 2.1.0 asks to turn on Bluetooth and sees the device "Bluetooth-PDA-Sync" but even with it on, My Location only displays 1.7 km radius accuracy.

Would be nice to see that working someday with accuracy!

legacy, that is quite accurate for cell tower triangulation... what you are seeing is not GPS.

Verizon just posted their OS for the Curve today

BlackBerry® Software Updates

However, even though the version number is the same as Sprint's (4.3.0.127), when I installed it and went through Application Loader, it told me that the files were older than the ones that were already on my handset (I used Sprint's OS to install apps onto my Verizon Curve so it also updated the OS files with Sprint).

It's probably a slightly different platform version (radio version.)

You're right. The platform version is 3.1.0.72 while the Sprint version is 3.1.0.73. What difference does the platform version make? Is it a problem using a different platform version with a different provider?
