Default BB Curve and Software

Hey guys, I just ordered the 8310 without a data package. Can I still download software (games, movies, etc.) to my PC and transfer them via the USB cable to my phone?

Thanks

How did you manage to get a BB without a data plan? My guess is when you go to activate it you will be stuck with one.

The CSR with ATT told me that a data plan was not neccessary if I just wanted SMS and the phone service.

Lucky. Usually you have to get a BB dataplan with a BB.

Not true. THe data plan is needed for rebates. You can buy a blackberry and use it as a phone.

I believe Verizon Wireless is the only US carrier that enforces the use of a BlackBerry Data Plan on a Blackberry device.

It is optional on most other carriers.

We had a new member the other day looking at blackberry on Alltel. Two rep's told him they would not activate the blackberry without a data plan. Apparently VZW is not the only one.

ATT has also been saying that to some people too. Seen that on other boards. Guess it just depends on who you talk with. Sure would be nice to get a straight answer all the time.
