Hi,

I'm wondering whether there is a way to perform hard reset for 8300 without use of trackball. It happens that one of our 8300 has the whole trackball part fallen off and lost by a careless user, so the 8300 is basically having a hollow part in the middle now.

Before I sent it off for replacement I would like to make sure all data on the handheld is wiped off, that's why I would like to find out whether there is a way, or even if a master reset key is available?

I've managed to hide icons one by one until Options then go into security options - general settings - right click and choose wipe handheld. Now the next screen is where I got stuck - I cannot scroll down to the "continue" in order to proceed with wipe out.

Any suggestion would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have another BB there you can pop the trackball out of and use it temporarily to scroll on the old one?

Hi John, thanks for the reply but the answer is no. All our other BBs are 8707 which does not have a trackball.

You not on BES where you could do a remote wipe.

Why not just order a replacement trackball. Horizon Wireless in my sig can fix you up. Also Cellular Accessories - BenQ-Siemens, 3G, Accessories Store, LG, Acer, Mobiado, Nokia, Alcatel, HTC, NEC will have them.

Thanks zerog46!! I totally forgot about that we are on BES and can do remote wipe. Now it's all good and clean again, thanks.

Yes this is also a solution which we thought about but since this device is under warranty Telstra (in Australia) is happy to replace us with a brand new unit so let's let it be that way.
