Default Help Please...Question about my BB 8310 from AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

Hi! I am new to this forum, because well, I am new to owning a BB...
My first question is why can't I have both worlds on my phone?
I only have the Media Net world and I want the regular browser too. AT&T told me I had to get a package to get both "worlds" but I know many people who have an at&t Blackberry or similar phone and don't have a data plan and have both "worlds" and many more icons and features as well. They can hit off my wireless router at my house without a package!
Does anyone know how I get this without at&t... dont seem right that i paid for the Blackberry and don't get all features!

Also, I want to know how to get my icons to go along the bottom of my screen. I have 5 showing, but they go along the left side. Have my own wallpaper showing, and the BB Dimension Zen Theme... I liked the way it hides all but 5, but can I choose that they are along the bottom instead along the side?
Any help you can give me is MUCH appreciated!

Thank you so much!!!

not sure if you are taling about "wifi" internet access. that doesn't need any plan if your 8310 has that hardware.
you can choose "L" theme from your BB setup which means icons are along the left and bottom.

Welcome to the forums.

1. You CAN'T have both worlds without a Blackberry data plan. Media net may get you a few things but it won't get you the true BB experience with push email, etc. Your BB doesn't have wifi so you can't hit off your wireless router.

2. There are other themes out there. Check my "Optimize" post on how to add more vendor themes. The one you want is the TMobile Zen theme.

3. You paid for the Blackberry but you didn't pay for the package so you don't get the features. It seems fair to me.

Thanks!!! I know of one lady that has the exact phone as me and has hers hitting off her router, but I guess I haven't got that. I can't e ven get my software to do anything for me. DO I have to have a package for that to work as well.
I already tried to connect mine using my computer and usb cable and I took out the _vender id " things... nothing... I can't even do anything with it.

Thank you so much for your help. I will have to look into a plan if I really can't live without the features I guess! Wanted to wait until at least one of my sons is out of college and paying his won way...lol already have outrageous at&t and auto insusrance bills! LOL

Again thank you for your reply!

Oh OK!!! Didn't know there was such! That's cool then! I knew someone would help me here. These phones are really 'smart' and I am not all that 'high tech'. But I am learning!
I will call at&t and get a plan one of these days, for now, I have wireless on my laptop, so that will do, but it would be nice to be able to just take my phone when I am out... much smaller! LoL
Y'all are great, thank ya much!!

The L theme is not available on the 8310 until OS 4.5.

I have the Blackberry Curve 8310, and I changed my Theme to BB Dimension Zen and all the icons are to the Left... it only shows 5 at a time and they are at the left, then the profile icon is in the top right corner.

BTW I got a data package from AT&T and now I have all my "worlds"! LoL Just have not figured out the software, but a friend printed a HOW TO thing posted by John Clark, so I will get on that soon.
I could not get the software installed on my laptop, but it did fine on my desktop. Could this be because I run Vista on my laptop and XP on the desktop?

Yes. On the Vista machine be sure you right click on the install file and select "run as administrator"

It will show all icons if you click on the bottom icon or hit the Menu key to the left of the trackball. The 5 app icons on the main screen are the first 5 icons on the home screen with all of your icons.
