Question How do you unlock the 8330?

Please Login to Remove!

I am a T-Mobile customer and would like to be able to use my Bberry with T-Mobile, but I do not see any place selling the bberry unlocked. Ebay has 8330 curves on sale but they are Alltel, Bell, and Verizon. I would like to buy this phone, but who knows if T-Mobile will ever have it, so it would be good to know how to unlock if I get it from Ebay. Thank you.

The 8330 will never work on TMobile. The 8330 is a CDMA device and TMobile is all GSM. You need a GSM 8300/8310/8320

Look here in our Buy Sell Trade site-some decent deals and reputable sellers.

But if you do buy off eBay:

Unhappy Thanks. I am of course heart broken.

Why can't T-Mobile get with the program. They never seem to get dibs on any of the latest and greatest phones. Boo Hoo.

lol, TMo has had the 8320 for months.
AT&T has had the 8300 and 8310 for months.

THEY were way ahead of the game with the 83xx series.

TMobile has the 8320.

You have a lot to learn.

John,

I think you misunderstand me. I would like to see Tmobile have the 8330( use CDMA as well), the SE X1, and one of the most recent Nokia N series phones, but Verizon and ATT seem to be getting these phones.

You may have a lot to learn as well.

LOL. I believe you are mistaken, the 8330 is CDMA and T-Mobile is GSM, these are 2 totally different technologies. This is why John said it will NEVER work.

He not misunderstanding. TMO will never carry the 8330. TMO is a GSM carrier. Similarly, TMO will never (and cannot) carry the 8830 or the 8130. at&t will never carry those models for the same reason. You won't see me griping about this because there's no need for them to do so as they have several GSM counterparts to choose from -- some of which they already offer. If a GSM BB that I want isn't offered by at&t I can purchase and unlock whatever GSM BB I want to use with at&t.

Even if TMO could why would they carry the 8330 (i.e. the CDMA 8310) when they already offer the only GSM Curve (the 8320) that they intend to carry? The 8330 was just released but that's only because CDMA devices tend to be released later than their GSM counterparts. Please refer to the countless threads where CDMA customers complain that they can't get the latest and greatest BB's until a year later or so. There is nothing that makes it any "better" than the 8310 aside from an OS update which will be released down the road for the 8310. Please use the comparison tool at Blackberry.com to confirm this for yourself.

If you want the 8330 on TMO what you're really looking for is an unlocked 8310. Being on a GSM carrier you can do this. There's no reason to be envious of the latecomer CDMA models.

rllingriver, yes that is nice wish that TMo become a CMDA network, but they aren't and likely won't.

But they had the same model from that series way ahead of Verizon and Sprint.

We all may have a lot to learn. And admitting it is your first step.

Default Ok

Telling someone that they have a lot to learn when they ask a question in a forum is an obvious observation.

You are really coming across as arrogant.

Thank you for answering my question though.

The comment that have a lot to learn was made in reference to your rant "T-Mobile get with the program. They never seem to get dibs on any of the latest and greatest phones."

You were given good sound gentle answers in the first two posts before your misinformed statement.

And telling someone that back, that has over 20k posts of helping users on this forum, is just a smart ass comment. You will not get many people eagerly looking to help you when you do things like that.
