I posted about this same issue a few months back and no one was able/willing to help. I've done quite a few searches and learned a lot but still have an issue. My boss has a Curve (I do too, but I use gmail) anyway she uses AOL (not aol.com, the actual AOL software) and has her personal BIS email setup on her phone. She has BES, but I've learned that AOL has nothing to do with BES and that it uses BIS. She has her phone set up to reconcile, she also has it set so that when she deletes it is set to delete on mailbox and handheld. She can send and receive email fine, but it WILL NOT reconcile. If she deletes or reads an email from the handheld and then signs online to check her mail, they all show as unread. PLEASE HELP US! I am not sure if she needs to be using aol.com (if that's the issue) or if there is some setting we are missing. I saw in one thread that they thought changing the aol setting to "unified mailbox" would help, but she doesn't use aol.com and I don't see that setting in the AOL program.

There has to be someone who uses AOL email and has everything set up and it syncs ok. Someone please help, my boss really needs this working correctly and I can't figure out the problem!

I might try that if the phone call I am on doesn't work. I am on with RIM right now...I jsut thought there had to be someone on here with this set-up that might be able to help me out. I just don't know what the issue is.

I am not sure if you can get full reconciliation(two way) with AOL Mail.

Oh really? That's interesting. So which way will reconcile? After being on the phone with RIM...they couldn't really help me. It's just sad because this is why she bought the phone.

BES definitely will. Only a few email services such as Yahoo and gmail (I don't have a full list off the top of my head) will actually reconcile with BIS.

i have aol but have never heard of aol software on a BB (not doubting you), i just have my aol pushed to my BB, the only downside is that it can take up to 20 minutes to receive on BB but thats not a serious issue for me. Bottom line is it reconciles and i know when I go onto my pc with AOL, anything i wanted to delete on my BB and keep as new to read on my PC is there waiting for me, best part it's all free via BIS.

Oh no by AOL software I didn't mean like an app on the BB, I meant the AOL program on the computer, vs. aol.com (webmail).

I actually tried setting up mine with my old AOL email address and everything worked like it is supposed to. Something is just funky with her phone and I am not sure what! Now she is getting TONS of those RIM emails sent to her inbox over and over (Subject: RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2). This is so frustrating!


But from what I understand you can't use AOL on BES. AOL has nothing to do with BES according to BB and some other threads I have read. I don't know....

I'm on BES and BIS. I have my AOL account setup in BIS and it reconciles both ways with no issues at all. It's a regular AOL account that I have had since way back in the day when I used AOL through an account that my folks setup for me and I still use to this day for very personal stuff.

Really? I thought Yahoo! was the only BIS mail that would fully reconcile two way. So you're telling me that if you read an email on your bberry, it will show up as read on your AOL mail account? and vice versa?

Interesting. And do you use the aol webmail (checking your mail through aol.com) or do you use the AOL software?

I just got off the phone again with RIM. We got it to reconcile one way (if you are using webmail) as far as deleting off of the phone. If you delete off of your desktop it won't reconcile the other way. He says it can take 2-6 hours. We shall see..... He says when you use the AOL software vs. webmail that the AOL software only reconciles with webmail every 24 hours. So you have all of this different information because things are reconciling at different times. He says the most accurate way is to use webmail along with your phone and to keep in mind that it won't be real time, but that it will reconcile eventually. SO now my boss has to use aol.com instead of the AOL software because I guess aol.com is more up to date and in sync with the server.
