Default ATT 8310, Red X when viewing pics???

Please Login to Remove!

When I was away on vacation I wanted to take some pics from the Staten Island Ferry of the city, was a nice day and forgot the Digi. So of course my BB 8310 stops taking pictures. The Viewfinder works, I have a 4GB Memory Card in there and it seems to take the picture, Flash goes off, audible click and all, but no review just a black screen and then after what should have been the review, back to camera mode. It does take pictures and Saves them, but you cannot view them, they show up with no thumbnail and when u open them you get a Black Screen with a tiny small white box in upper left corner with a Red "X" in the white box? Anyone have any ideas, I've wiped entire phone, same thing??
Thanks in Advance for any suggestions?

Are you sure that camera is storing to the Media Card? Have you been able to previously take pictures and review them? I am wondering if your device is low on memory and you are trying to store to the device memory. Start with a battery pull and try again.

Yeah I have switched from device memory to media card and same thing. Even tried taking a picture after the wipe, when completely cleaned to factory specs and it still did same thing, its very odd cause rest of phone works perfect. Yes, the last time I used the camera, it worked and stored on media card.
Thanks for the super quick reply, I knew you guys would have some ideas.

Do you see the picture through the view finder? What is your free memory? Menu>options>Status (File Free) and how long have you had the device? And unless I missed it you didn't state if you had been able to do this before on the device successfully.

I see thru the viewfinder just fine. Had this phone about 8 Months. Camera always worked before, I just don't use it much and figure it had to stop working within last 2 Months.

File Free= 16185837
File Total=54919168

Again, thanks for working this out with me guys, does that file free seem low for a phone with no messages or e-mails, went thru and deleted them yesterday, I do have a large Contact list and Calander, but I figure thats a small amount of memory.

Your free memory is fine. I am leaning toward something being wrong with the media card. Can you view anything on it? Not pics you have taken? Can you connect it directly to the PC without it being in the BB? If you do can you see the pics?

Alright, still cant see on computer either. Tried storing to device memory and media card then i pulled off media card and it shows 2-3mb Pictures but when I open em, windows picture viewer says "No Preview Available". It almost seems that there not JPEGs like it says they are, of course I get the really weird problem, Its Almost Time for an EV-DO Curve to become Available with ATT so maybe I'll just leave it, but it drives me crazy.

Yes, start the camera and hit Options. What are your settings? The last thing I can think to do is to format the card in the BB. Other things to try first, connect the card directly to the PC and try dragging a pic to it, does it transfer? Can you view it on the card. I would hate for you to loose your pics.

This ones weird, who do i call for support RIM or ATT. Thanks for all ur help, I'm sure RIM and ATT aren't gonna be much more help but it is annoying.

Strange issue. I've not seen it posted here before but I may have missed it. I would call AT&T and you may need a replacement device. Unfortunatly, AT&T is closed for now so you'll have to wait until at least tomorrow.

Yea, I'm starting believe its a Hardware issue also, but it is odd. Thats why I came here first cause I know ATT is gonna have no clue.

Anyone know when a High-Speed Ev-DO Blackberry will be available for ATT?

Thanks again for the help guys, let me know if u hear anything.

Tom, good luck with your camera. My wife's 8100 was doing that. We still have the SIM card which we transferred from the 8100 to a new 8300, the black-gray pictures are still there. It was not a hardware issue on the 8100, many of the pictures taken were still there before and after the black images.

EVDO won't be available on AT&T.

Did you remove any cod's from the OS? did you uncheck anything during your last OS upgrade? have you tried upgrading to the latest software? what is the file extension of the images when you look on the pc?
