Default SMS to one specific person refuses to send.

Please Login to Remove!

Well, this is weird. My blackberry is refusing to send a SMS text to one of my friends.

1. I'm positive i'm typing her number in correctly, as shes in my phone book, phone calls to and from her are working fine, and she can send ME texts just fine.
2. New text or reply... same result.

It just gives me the message not sent indicator (red x) and it says "unassigned number" on the error.

If it helps any, shes on virgin mobile, and does have incoming and outgoing text on her service.

And a battery-pull didn't fix this at all?

Are you selecting her name from the address book to send her the text message?

What happens if you do 'Use Once' and manually type in her 10 digit number?

Both typing it manually, and selecting from address book... Also tried to reply to one she sent. Will try battery reset now... Should mention that I've sent like 30 sucessful texts to other people in the last hour

Is there anything different with her carrier than with the other text messages you've sent?

Do you have other Virgin Mobile contacts in your address book? Can you send new SMS or reply to them, at least? One desperate move would be to try a different phone and send her SMS from there.

battery reset did not affect it.

As far as i'm aware, shes the only virgin mobile subscriber in my phone book.

I also checked to see who owns the number, and its a sprintpcs number, and virgin is a mvno off of them.

I have sent and recieved texts from sprint subscribers today, but noone on VM that I am aware of

Aw man. That sucks. Especially if she's your GF. Sorry about this as I got no more extra ideas. Ms. Juwaack should be coming back.

Well, this is weird, but, changing the SMS option from gprs only to gprs preferred solved the problem.

I dont know why it affected only one specific person, but it seems to work fine now.

I set mine to GSM. You might want to try that too.

The gprs preferred means that it'll try gprs first, the fall back to gsm

I've never seen that setting mean a thing. In the old days you could send sms over gprs, thus using your data plan. However, the carriers wised up to that and ever since, that setting doesn't matter.

Yeah, I remembered when you could get free text on the prepaids doing it like that. I just chalk it up to random weirdness.
