Smile Verizon Curve Volume!

Please Login to Remove!

Just switched from a 8830 to a new 8330 and I'm happy to report that the Curve does not have the volume issues that the 8830 did! Volume is really loud, probably as loud as my old Cingular 8800 (AT&T). This is great news as the 8830 volume issue was really annoying.

I'm sure they will manage to break it with an OS upgrade!

It would be in typical RIM style.

I honestly had no problem with the 8830's volume. I thought it was super compared to the 8703e's volume. The 8830 was even better to me than my current 8130.

Maybe I was spoiled from my old 8800, but I definitely had trouble hearing my 8830 when it was in my pocket. I missed messages and calls all the time. Then again, it wasn't quite as bad as the iPhone... that's for sure.

They better not break it with an OS upgrade! ;)

I hope they break it with an OS upgrade. My girlfriends 8130 is MUCH louder then my 8830.

Erh, Verizon.. Wonder what nice goodies are going to be disabled with the new OS releases. I felt like slinging my 8830 at the nearest VZW shirt I saw....

Interesting... I picked up my 8330 yesterday and think the volume is low compared to my 8830.

I wouldn't mind if the volume was a little louder. I've missed a couple calls while my BB is in its holster.

Traded my 8703e for the 8830. Then got another, and another, and another.
All had issues that were not software glitches, including the screaming microphone. And dropping calls, after the 87 never gave me a bit of trouble. The last thing was buying the phone, thinking that it had GPS, and would be able to use the BBmaps app. And VZW's decision to cripple yet another phone, was the last straw. My customer base likes the fact that I care for them, and at the end of the ordeal with VZW, i felt like they could care less about my issues. Kinda like David and Goliath..
My decision to go with ATT after the switch, was for coverage. Not because im a fan.
Just got tired of the whole "Gestapo" mentality their company has.

Ok so where diod they screw you in this? Its your own fault for not researching the device prior to purchasing it. Its never been a secret that you had to use VZnav. Sprint doesnt allow MMs on a BB we all know its possible. So VZW isnt the only ones crippling devices. I would hardly call it crippled maybe disabled but my devive works just dandy doing the things its supposed to do like email and phone. Perfect every time.

Maybe you misunderstood. They sold me a faulty device. I returned the first one, a week after I got it. It had bad pixels on the screen. The second, had a bad key, and the third would drop calls, as soon as you hit the send key. You get kinda frustrated after that.
And to be honest, I READ the advertisement from VZW stating that it would have GPS.
Im not flaming anyone for having them, and YES I did do some research before I got the device...I purchased about a month into its release....And got tired really quick with the "Smartphone Tech" department.

You get kinda tired of paying "The Man" for something that should work well out of the box.....So, you can take it for what it is.... Ive been disgruntled by them, and I have a specific opinion on the matter.

P.S. About 14 years ago, I got a little certification called an "A+" that meant I could work on computers and networks and such. I knew and understood the technology before I decided to buy it... I didnt go into it as an "Ignorant Consumer"...

Hmm. I have to agree with Dawg - I don't see how Verizon screwed you. You got several defective units, which is very unfortunate - but do you think Verizon knew they were defective, or made them defective? If they were defective, they were defective from RIM, not Verizon.

I read the same advertisement on my 8830 and 8330 concerning GPS and knew it was not included.

You certainly are entitled to your opinion though and I might likely have been just as jaded as you if I had to return several units, so I don't blame you at all.

As for you P.S. - I am not sure what an A+ (especially one from 14 years ago) has to do with you being ignorant or not (and I could be wrong, but I don't think Dawg - or anyone else implied you were an "ignorant consumer"). An A+ is an entry level certification for computer repair. I teach HS (computer technology) as my second career and several of my teenage students also received there CompTIA A+ certs. I am not trying to trivialize that particular cert - just suggesting that it doesn't seem relevant to this discussion.

BTW - I also have an A+, along with Network+, Server+ and Security+. I have a degree in Astrophysics and one in Education. I worked as an Engineer for Motorola for 9 years, Intel for 3 years and have been a Computer Technology teacher and IT / Network Administrator for a Public High School for the last 6 years. None of those credentials necessarily made me any more knowledgeable on cell phones or whether GPS was enabled or not on phone. All I needed for that was to simply read the fine print! ;)
