Default Unlocking Verizon 8330

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone tried to unlock their new curve? Will Verizon give you the code like AT&T does? If not, anyone know where I can get it unlocked? Thanks!

VZW will not unlock it, and noone else can that I am aware of. CDMA devices are locked to the carriers and the FCC hasnt required it yet. At this point you are stuck with Verizon if you buy it. It wont ever work on a non CDMA carrier though, so you would be limited to Sprint/Verizon of the big 4.

Default GPS Unlock

ANother forum talked about using QPST to mess with the PDE settings for GPS. ANyone think about getting the sprint phone that has GPS unlocked and mirroring those server settings for the vzw bb?

The CDMA Blackberry 8830 from Sprint already comes unlocked. The frequency for the phone are not compatible with US networks, so you can go to Europe and pop in a SIM and use the phone without needing to do anything to it.

The Verizon 8830 does NOT come GSM unlocked, only the Sprint 8830 GSM is unlocked. You still need to unlock the 8830 on VZW or it will ONLY work on Vodafone.

I'm not understanding why you would want to unlock a verizon 8330 as it would be useless as sith said...

Now I understand getting an ATT curve and unlocking that....

Maybe I'm confused... LOL that's not hard.

You could want to unlock it to use a SIM card in Europe.

But there's no slot for a sim card on my verizon 8330, i'm guessing there is on the sprint version?

No, there is no SIM card slot on ANY 8330.

The only CDMA blackberry device with a SIM slot is the 8830 World Phone. It is a CDMA/GSM hybrid device.

Phones come locked into one provider. If you get your phone unlocked you could use it with another CDMA provider. But this does not work one a verizon 8330.
