Default 616 area code have a sprint 8330?

Please Login to Remove!

I live in GR, MI and called telesales they told me i can't get it till it is available due to the Grand Rapids market being a affiliate market? I stopped by 3 stores Saturday and they all claim 2-4 weeks before they see it. Anybody know?

just like VZW, Sprint does not own their entire network. Its odd a market like that wouldnt be part of Sprint but not much you can do. try the website and see if you can upgrade there.

what I find funny is Lansing to my east can get them and Kalmazoo to my south can but GR is owned by Metro PCS including my area in Ottawa County all under MPCS control. That is why i can't get hybrid sprint phones I was told they couldn't work out an agreement so we will never see hybrid sprint phones. They need to sell to Sprint .

I feel your pain. I live in Holland and the word 'affiliate' is a 4 letter word to me.

its actually not by area code for the record. there are sprint users (actually sprint) that have 616, its based on your location (not even full zip code)

So why couldn't I just order threw telesales and turn it on. It should work I would think. How is the network going to know?
I asked that to a store and they didn't see how that wouldn't work.

How do we know for sure? Is it based on the invoice? My invoice shows Sprint.... doesn't indicate any sort of affiliate.

head into a Sprint corporate store and see if they can pull up the account. If they can access the account you should be able to upgrade with no issues

Ask any store if we are in a "dedicated sprint service area" and they will studder. Metro PCS or MPCS owns Grand Rapids and Ottawa county . They own up to lansing to the east and south to K-zoo. You ever hear the ads on the radio for Metro pcs bring wifi to rual Ottawa county? They are expanding the network like crazy which is great bringing exdo to the area but we don't get the perks like a dedicated area I.E. normal phone releases and hybrid phones. I have a few sprint buddies in Jenison and they have great coverage any where in Greater GR area on treos and WM devices.

I did stopped last week and they claimed at that time they are still waiting for the curve release date but due to an affiliate market they can't help me with an upgrade till they get theres 2-4 wks out.

when I stopped to a store in Kent County Saturday I got a chances to play with an Alltel which they just got in. Sweet phone and same great color as the Sprint one.

Oh, I know we are in an affiliate area. Just pull up a coverage map for here and you'll get a bunch of green dots.

I have great coverage at my house, though (not far from Lake MI). WAY better than I ever did with an iDEN device.

I wonder if I call CS back and don't mention the market if they would make a difference? I found it fun on Saturday the girl didn't even have price plans for upgrades for the Curve yet they are that far behind Sprint areas. She was guessing a new activation would be 130.00. That would be great but playing the dumb customer so I could pick her brain I knew better (179.00). She also told me i can't get any smartphone without a data plan... heehehee..

that is good to know about the coverage. Any coverage holes that I should know about? Are you looking to upgrade also from your 8130?

I haven't found a coverage hole yet on this side of the state (and I've been all the way along the lake shore from the border to the south and up to Charlevoix/Petoskey.

There is one spot I can think of on M66 between I-96 and Woodbury (I think that's either Ionia or Eaton county), but it's only about a 1 mile stretch where the road dips way down.

Oh, and I'd love to upgrade, but I just got the 8130 when it came out at Thanksgiving and am not eligible for the upgrade price (which, I think, is pretty lame).

Are there any stores in your area with Scurves? If so I wonder if I can buy one down there?
