Hey guys,

Well I have a total Noob question...I tried searching the forums but couldn't get a clear cut answer to my question. I have been a long time Sprint Customer and They recently royaly pissed me off and I've about had it with them. I recently purchased a 8330 Curve from them. And now I am thinking of jumping ship to the Verizon network...I know Verizon usses the same 8330 Model...my question is if I can get the phone unlocked and then flashed with Verizons software would I be able to use the phone on their network??

i would much better do that then have to buy a whole new phone...any info you guys can give me would be great. I tried calling the local VZ store and they are just morons they have no idea what I was talking about. so please let me know. Thanks!

Sorry, can't do that.... at least not yet (and no idea when CDMA devices can be unlocked).

If you *just* bought it, can you return it (or send it to me ?

Verizon will not activate a non-Verizon branded device on their network. Same with Sprint. It has to be a Verizon phone before VZW will activate it. Flashing won't change the ESN or PIN.

Verizon is supposedly opening its network to all capable devices. I am unsure when this is supposed to become a reality. I thought soon...

I say return it once you get it & port your # over to Verizon....although Sprint offers more choice, Verizon is $10 cheaper.

I wouldn't hold my breath about it - from either Verizon or Sprint.

Changing the OS to switch carriers isn't necessary on the BB. The service books are what really matter. Though it's a moot point anyway since you can't use a Sprint BB with VZW.
