Ok guys; I've searched and haven't found a situation specifically like mine. T-Mobile Blackberry bought new, always been on a BIS. I went to t-mobile today because I have not been getting all my emails pushed to the phone. In the process of digging the t-mobile guy noted that my firewall is enabled and locked. I understand why it would be enabled, but why would it be locked? I am running v4.2.2.171 on the phone, and am about to upgrade.

Check and see if, for some reason, there is an IT policy on the device. Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings. Scroll to the bottom and see if there are any services listed.

I have wiped it and I have also loaded the new OS to the BB.

Why are you concerned about it being locked? What issue are you having that it's causing?

It has no impact on your mail delivery unless you've set it to block BIS.

I was wondering if the blocked firewall has anything to do with my not getting all my emails. Guess I never asked that question, specifically.

None of my 3rd party apps are connecting...I get lockups or exception errors. I see my firewall is enabled and locked. I was hooked to a BES for a day and then had it disconnected.

I just can't believe that I can't unlock the firewall; that's just too absurd; ... but assuming it is true, can I solve the problem by reconnecting to the BES, have them send me a blank IT policy and then disconnect from the BES again.

Found John Clarks recommendation to use JL_Cmder to do a factory reset.

It's a recent post so not sure why it wasn't mentioned in this thread.

downloaded the program, and after backing up, pulled the reset switch in Cmder.

We'll see......

JL_CMDER reset my 8330 and unlocked my firewall and the first app I tried worked.
