Cool 8310 issue - 05-15-2008, 01:04 PM

Ok first off i would like to say i just joined BBF i work for at&t and I've looked at this forum hundreds of times for various issues and just to see what's going on in the blackberry world. i recently won a blackberry 8310 directly from blackberry which makes my issue kind of a pain. ok so here's the issue.

right from the box i took it out put the sim card in, plugged it in (as they come with 1 batt bar) charged worked fine whatever... unplugged it, within 2 minutes it reset so.. I'm like whatever happened once no biggie, so then it does it again in about 10 minutes or less so I'm doing everything i can think of from re-installing OS to pulling batt for minutes at a time cant think of anything i do notice that as long as its plugged into my pc it works fine let me stress (THIS IS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE! so do not come back and tell me it is) if i have the signal turned off the phone will not reset, my blackberry rep tells me to do all the steps i have already done so there's no real help there, although i can do a little more work and go higher up in the chain im looking for a way to fix it my self first (let it be known i also have a 8110, 8300, and a 8703e{from sprint})

now with all that said what can we figure out?

Welcome to the BBForums.

You don't want to hear it... but first before troubleshooting anything else, charge the battery fully. Then, is the phone locked to ATT (while that won't cause the reboot issue, it will be asked)... look at How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

If the device is plugged into your PC, it is receiving a charge, and this powered, hence no problem... makes me think... well, you asked us not to say it.

Also, when the radio signal goes on, it does begin to use more juice, reboot, bam, which makes me think... oh well, again, I can't say it.

But I think you get my drift? Charge the battery fully for several hours to 100%, and check back in here afterwards.

And even if you're charging the battery the way you should, and know what you're doing, and don't want to be told that........... Its possible to have a defective battery. JS is right, everything you say in terms of symptoms points to.............
