I just re-installed os 4.2.2.166 from 4.5.0.18 on my AT&T 8300. The re-installation wiped out my address book. When I try to restore it via the Desktop Manager from one of my backup files, the address book is not one of the options that appears for restoration. Clicking the "Advanced" button shows the databases on both the desktop and the device. The desktop "Address Book - All" is grayed out, though it shows the number of entries I had (65 in my case). The note at the bottom of the window indicates that "Databases that are unavailable in the list have been configured for wireless synchronization or wireless backup and are read-only. You cannot restore or clear them." I'm not on BES and don't have a wireless backup or restore option.

Is there a way to recover this address book? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, the urgency of my problem has been greatly reduced. My company had upgraded my laptop to Office 2007, and I had a separate secondary profile and folders for my Earthlink account to which I had synched my address book to its contacts. I finally found where that secondary contacts folder was and was able to synch it to my Blackberry, so I've recovered my addresses. I'm still curious to know why I couldn't do so via the "restore" function, though.
