I currently have a Verizon 8830 and thinking of switching to 8330. Any thoughts or feedback? I also use a at&t 8820 so I feel I am sorta duplicating. Leaning towards curve. Is it Silver or Dark Gray like the at&t 8310?

Definitely the 8330....96Mb of memory, camera. It's not a World Phone,though.

That's ok...I'm not a world traveler. Besides, even with a gov't account the world phone plan was outrageous. But they have incredible pricing on the Curve.

I switched from the VZW 8830 to the 8330 and I am so glad I did. The keyboard has a better feel, no memory leak issues, very little lag when switching apps and opening emails, and the camera is a nice option for when you need it.

I guess it all comes down to needs and wants. If you travel worldwide, 8830 is important for you. If you don't and a camera is important to you....go to the 8330 if your getting a really good deal on it. I wanted a Curve ever since I moved to Verizon last year, but only the 8830 was available, so I took the only thing I could get. When the Curve became available I waited until my 1 year was up and got a decent deal on it. Im only 2 days in, but Im loving the keyboard, the size, and the camera....it was definitely worth it for me.

I too have made the switch from the 8830 to the 8330, I have not looked back and will not. I prefer the 8330 to the 8830.

Looks like I am getting a curve soon. I hope I can get used to a qwerty again

A guy I work with just got the 8330 and I heard him on the phone the other day with Verizon talking about loosing reception in our building. I have no reception issues with the 8830. I will have to ask him about it when he gets back from vacation.

I've used an 8830 on T-mobile, O2 and Orange and have yet to suffer from any real Signal issues.

I concur with bcichon.I moved from 8830 to 8330 and LOVE the Curve. #1 happiness: Curve keyboard way better than 8830. Also the fonts seems to be better/screen a little sharper. I dig it. I paid full price and am still happy, so that tells ya something.

I just got an VZW 8330 yesterday and so far I absolutely love it! Having used an VZW 8703 for the past few years this was a big upgrade for me. So far I have to say that the unit itself is my favorite feature, I really like the form factor, weight, etc.

I haven't installed an SDHC card yet so no media fun so far, but I'm really looking forward to that part as well.

I have both. Blackberries other than the 8330 are rubbish if you are installing applications. The 8830 is a little snappier but, like the others, start deleting your sms messages, emails and phone logs once you hit 10-15 applications (especially Viigo.) This is shocking but true and there is no warning for this bug which has be around for a year. The 8330 has plenty of memory that will keep you happier. It also has the new OS which is better. The down side is that the battery life is shorter and I couldn't get my BlueAnt headset to pair with my 8330 although it works perfectly with the 8830.

No contest, 8330 in a landslide.

There is a fix for this memory issue you speak of....Check my "Optimize your BB" thread in my signature below. I have lots of 3rd party apps but I remove stuff that I don't use. See the thread. Also, the "new OS" will be out soon for most of the BB devices.

Not sure why your BlueAnt won't work.

I carried the 8130 for 7 months and I never lost one email due to memory issues. Thanks to Johns help i got rid of all the excess fluff and my pearl screamed

Same problem with the Blueant. I have to turn it on then force it to connect via the BB. As far as paring try re-setting the memory, push the +, - and the MFB all at the same time, this will re-set the memory, it's probably full.

The Verizon 8330 is silver like the 8830. I upgraded from 8703e a few weeks ago and it is awesome.

1) I appreciate your post but there is no "fix" that works the way it should. Regardless, even if there was a warning for the leak, there is still far too little memory on the device to be useful with the amount of applications that one would probably want to run these days - especially those like Viigo which eat up a lot of RAM.

2) With regard to OS 4.5 - it's not coming out that quickly, especially if you're on the Verizon network. I highly doubt it will come out before the Bold makes its debut and it will probably be months of testing on the CDMA network and internally at Verizon until they decide to include it within the current Curves that are being shipped with 4.3.

3) Regarding the BlueAnt - thanks zerog46. I'll try it out. I don't know why the memory would be full but that sounds like a good way to proceed and see what gives.

4) Dawg - I'm happy you haven't lost anything. But for those of us that need a good number of applications on there, we'll run into the problem yet again. If you just do the math it's easy to see that there is an application limit on a pre 8330 CDMA Blackberry.

I ran plenty of apps on the 8130 including viigo, Jivetalk, facebook, BBweather, BBlight, BBtoday amn others so please dont assume that I am not running anything.

That's not a lot of apps. Many of us use more and expect to be able to load at least 20 comfortably. That is not the case with the memory underequipped blackberries which the 8330 finally addresses.

thats just a start I didnt list everything I run. If you are that unhappy with a device why not change it instead of complaining.
