Exclamation Verizon 8330 EVDO REV A? - 06-04-2008, 11:51 PM

Is the Verizon 8330 EVDO REV A? I've been told it is, but on Verizon's website under Phone Details for the Curve it states" Not Rev A Upgradeable".

They put that there prior to the official 8330 release, I believe it to be true.

Currently, the ONLY phone sold at VZW that is even upgradeable to REV A is the XV6800.

Don't you mean XV6800. UTStar supported device from HTC.

I had that phone for about 5 months and had installed custom roms from XDA developers that enable Rev. A and GPS. GPS worked great, but I couldn't really see a difference between Rev. 0 and Rev. A as far as uploads and downloads.

Rev A wont help out much on these phones.. On a computer its night and day, but the cell phones dont have the processing power to take advantage of even Rev 0.

So when he says "on a computer it's night and day" is he referring to tethering?

Also when did you make the switch from the 8830 to the Curve? I'm about to do the same. I'm so tired of the blue keyboard. The Curve keyboard is much easier to type on I think.

Wirelessly posted

Maybe the sBold or vzBold will support rev a and have the processing power to take advantage of it. If that is the case then I will definately get the Bold if its released on CDMA this year.
