| So I swapped out my 8330 today... Please Login to Remove! So I got the VZW 8330 the week before it was officially released in stores via their website, and prior to getting it I had read many posts regarding the build quality on the 83XX. I had been coming from a 7230 as my first device, then an 8700g (both TMO), and as I'm sure you know those two are built like rocks. Out of the box I noticed a keyboard wobble and then after a few days the infamous side creak. Totally was fine with this since I knew it was somewhat normal...but then my co-worker also got a Curve a few days after they were released in stores.
Right off the bat, her device felt more "solid". There was no keyboard wobble at all, and the side rails showed no signs of loosening. I figured, okay, she doesn't use it nearly as much as me, so I'm sure after a week or two we"ll be in the same place. Obviously, this didn't happen. Finally, after comparing the two today, her device still felt as solid as the day she got it, and mine was a wobbly, creaky "mess".
So I brought it into the store today and they gave me a new one, no questions asked. I must say this one is like night and day compared to the one I first had.
Moral of the story: If you have one of the first Curves released from VZW via the website or in store and you think it feels flimsy, it's not the case for all. I would recommend a swap if you could manage it.
PS: The tech guy at the store was a tremendous help, so thumbs up for VZW CS in this case. Got the new one, walked through the mall, got to my car and noticed I had no browser or BIS email set-up option. Then I realized I had no data coming through at all. Went back to the store, and he fixed it after what was literally an hour so. I have no idea what the problem was (and I'm not really a BB noob), and I could not live without my fix long enough to come on here and find out what was wrong, so i figured let him deal with it. And that's that! |
