hey guys my friend bought a new blackberyy 8310 to use on tmobile... its locked under ATT.... she got a JVM 102 error... in the morning... and i wiped it and reloaded the software ... now its ok....

she wants to take it to a store to get it unlocked for $40... my questions is what if i wipe it with the jvl loader and then install tmobile settings from Blackberry.com.... would it now be locked to tmobile??? so she will save

$40 is way too much to pay to have the phone unlocked... but that's her call I guess.

Besides that, installing the T-Mo OS on the device won't have any effect on the lock status at all. Once unlocked, it can never be re-locked.
It's also not necessary to install the t-mo OS at all if you don't want to.

No, I know it won't work.

Installing a different carrier's OS has absolutely no effect on the network lock whatsoever.
If you want to use an AT&T branded device on T-Mobile, you need to purchase an unlock code. GSM PhoneSource - When Only The Best Will Do is a good place to go.
